Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sampsa Pikari! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marshmello Garcia! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia gets caught flat footed, as Pikari shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Garcia wants to stand but Pikari is controlling the position. Pikari pushing down on Garcia's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Pikari is trying to work for a kimura but Garcia is defending well.
Garcia is trying to stand up here but Pikari is controlling him well. Pikari is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pikari stops Garcia from getting back to his feet.
Pikari is pressing down on Garcia's thigh, looking to free his foot. Garcia is holding on for now. Pikari missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pikari moves into full mount! Garcia won't be happy about that! Pikari has hold of Garcia's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Garcia manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Garcia somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Garcia misses with a head kick.
Garcia tries to clinch there but Pikari circles away.
Marshmello Garcia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pikari looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Pikari is breathing heavily. Garcia pushes Pikari off looking to stand but Pikari dives back in and keeps control.
Pikari throwing shots but Garcia is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pikari thows a huge punch but Garcia dodges it nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Pikari is working for a kimura but Garcia is defending it quite comfortably.
Pikari prevents Garcia from standing back up.
Pikari not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pikari is pressing down on Garcia's thigh, looking to free his foot. Garcia is holding on for now.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. The fight stays on the outside here - Garcia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Marshmello Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garcia bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Pikari blocks a head kick by Garcia.
Pikari looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Pikari thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Garcia keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pikari working the head and body with strikes. Pikari wants to pass the guard but Garcia is defending well. Pikari thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Garcia's head. Garcia is trying to stand.
Pikari is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garcia tries to kick Pikari off in order to stand up. Pikari Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Pikari landing a few strikes. Pikari works to advance to full mount. Garcia defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Pikari scoring with strikes but Garcia is staying in there. Garcia is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Pikari lands a big elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pikari raining down shots from the mount! The referee warns Garcia that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pikari working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Garcia looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Pikari! Submission of the night perhaps?
