The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs thows a body shot but no joy.
Woodard blocks a head kick by Briggs.
An inside leg kick lands from Woodard.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Briggs punishes Woodard's body with a nice straight punch.
Woodard shoots in and drives through. Briggs sprawls well.
A punch combination from Woodard misses.
Woodard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Woodard throws a head kick but Briggs moves out of range.
Briggs jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Woodard fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Briggs sprawls well initially but Woodard persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Briggs moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Woodard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Briggs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jonathan Briggs.
Woodard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Briggs.
Woodard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Briggs as he jumps to the side.

Briggs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Woodard manages to avoid it.

Woodard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Briggs pinned against the cage. Briggs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Woodard shoots in looking for a takedown but Briggs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woodard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Briggs feints and as Woodard raises his hands in defense, Briggs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Briggs distracts Woodard with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Woodard throws his legs up looking for a submission but Briggs uses it to pass to side control.

Briggs wants to get up but he can't break Woodard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
