Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Vazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Slater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesus Vazquez! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vazquez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Slater counters with a takedown into side control. A lull in the action here. Vazquez taking a bit of punishment here - Slater scoring with strikes. Slater happy to just control the position for now. Slater's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Slater tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater throwing strikes but Vazquez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! You can see the frustration on Slater's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Slater prevents Vazquez from improving position. Vazquez throws a strike aimed at the side of Slater's head but Slater avoids it well. Vazquez tries to move to mount but Slater blocks the move with his legs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slater is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Vazquez throwing strikes but Slater manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vazquez is letting Slater control him for a moment. Slater seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vazquez for as long as he can get away with. Slater has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater grinds an elbow into Vazquez's temple. Vazquez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Slater.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Slater lands a decent elbow from side control. Vazquez taking a bit of punishment here - Slater scoring with strikes. A lull in the action here as Slater stalls from top position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vazquez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Slater dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Slater staying out of range there. Slater closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vazquez's guard. Slater sitting in guard, not really doing much. Vazquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slater can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Slater is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Slater tries to free his leg and advance position but Vazquez is retaining full guard. Slater lands a couple of decent looking shots. Slater not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Tom Slater just wasn't active enough. Slater has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Vazquez misses with a wild combination.
Jesus Vazquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Slater shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vazquez is trying to defend but Slater finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slater takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Slater landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater is taking a breather. Vazquez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Vazquez kicks off Slater and gets to his feet. Slater misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Vazquez.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Slater. Vazquez does a little dance to reset his feet. Vazquez misses with a two punch combination.

and Slater counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Slater. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Slater controlling from the top position. Slater scoring with punches to the head and body. Tom Slater overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Slater tries to free his leg and advance position but Vazquez is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Slater dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Vazquez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Slater closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Vazquez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Slater working the head and body with strikes. Slater keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Slater not landing any meaningful shots this time. Slater content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

and Slater counters with a single leg into guard. Vazquez didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Slater stands up over Vazquez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Slater showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slater, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
