PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Dexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjj Sparbot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Dexter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bjj Sparbot!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dexter wants to clinch up but Sparbot keeps it at a distance.
Sparbot looks gassed!
Dexter tries to clinch but Sparbot moves out of range.

Dexter clinches.

Dexter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dexter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dexter wants to stand up but Sparbot is controlling him.
Sparbot looking to pass the guard.
Sparbot won't allow Dexter to sweep him here.
Dexter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sparbot on the ground.

Dexter keeping moving, preventing Sparbot from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sparbot drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sparbot jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sparbot wants to control from the top but Dexter keeps moving.

Dexter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sparbot is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We're going to have a standup here because Rob Dexter wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dexter is looking to clinch but Sparbot is avoiding it.
Dexter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sparbot tries to avoid it but Dexter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sparbot to the ground. Sparbot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dexter tries to clinch but Sparbot moves out of range.
Sparbot looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Dexter has managed to clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Dexter lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Dexter is struggling to control the position.

Dexter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

No luck for Dexter with that takedown attempt.
Dexter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Dexter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dexter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dexter moves into the clinch successfully.
Dexter tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sparbot avoids it.
Sparbot dodges an elbow strike from Dexter.

Dexter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dexter shoots in for a double leg but Sparbot sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dexter darts in and clinches Sparbot up against the cage.

Dexter tries to land a knee to the head but Sparbot blocks with his arms.
Sparbot is breathing heavily.

Dexter gets control of Sparbot's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dexter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sparbot lands a couple of digs.
Sparbot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dexter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sparbot throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sparbot trying to control the position from guard on top but Dexter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rob Dexter will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A kick lands to the mid section there for Dexter.
Dexter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Dexter has managed to clinch.
Dexter is struggling to control the position.
Dexter landing knees to the body.
Dexter unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Sparbot takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dexter using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sparbot has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Dexter.
Dexter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dexter takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Dexter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dexter tries to clinch there but Sparbot circles away.
Bjj Sparbot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dexter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dexter throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Sparbot avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rob Dexter showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dexter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
