The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a nice looking combination but Williams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Williams throws a shot from downtown. Penn moves away and avoids it.
Penn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Williams.

It looks like Stephen Williams has been cut.
Penn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Williams on the side of the head.
Williams avoids a punch combination nicely.
Penn throws a series of strikes that have Williams backpedaling.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Stephen Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Penn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Williams stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Penn is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Oooooh!!! Penn has knocked Williams down with a huge combo! Penn steps away and waves a wobbly Williams back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Oh Williams is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Penn throws a head kick but Williams moves out of range.
Williams seems to have got his legs back now.
Williams looks to land a right hand but Penn moved out of range.
Williams works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Donk. Williams catches Penn right on the button with a cross.

Williams throws a lazy right hand but Penn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Penn lands a big head kick that sends Williams tumbling to the mat! Penn takes a step backwards and waves Williams back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Williams is breathing heavily.
Penn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Penn throws a series of punches but Williams moves out of range.
Penn displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Stephen Williams's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Williams works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Penn scores with a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well.
Williams throws a jab but it's blocked by Penn.
Penn lands a nice looking body shot.
Williams closes the distance looking to clinch
and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Penn connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Left hook, right uppercut from Penn.

Jeez, Stephen Williams's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The crowd cheers as Penn lands an impressive looking overhand right. Williams doesn't seem phased though.

Williams blocks a low kick nicely.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Stephen Williams's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
