Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaap Van Der Merwe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by Little Lion Man. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Walker! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jaap Van Der Merwe! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Van Der Merwe, pushing him back against the cage. Van Der Merwe tries to pull guard but Walker holds him up against the cage and eventually Van Der Merwe drops back down to his feet.

It looks like Jaap Van Der Merwe has been cut. Walker wants to get back to striking at distance but Van Der Merwe won't allow it.
Walker misses with an elbow strike.
Van Der Merwe can't get the takedown.
Walker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Van Der Merwe. Van Der Merwe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Van Der Merwe closes the distance and clinches. Van Der Merwe wants a takedown but no success here.
Alex Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaap Van Der Merwe. Walker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Walker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Van Der Merwe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Van Der Merwe works a leg free and moves into half guard. Van Der Merwe is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Walker is just riding it out for now. Van Der Merwe eventually gives up the hold. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Walker wants to get back to his feet.

Van Der Merwe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Walker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Van Der Merwe is working away from the top position though. Van Der Merwe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jaap Van Der Merwe was stalling too much, according to the referee. Van Der Merwe is looking to clinch. Walker throws a head kick but Van Der Merwe moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Der Merwe tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Walker closes the distance and lands a one-two. Walker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van Der Merwe moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Nice sprawl there from Walker as Van Der Merwe shoots in. Walker throws a series of punches but Van Der Merwe avoids them all with ease. This has been an exciting period of action! Van Der Merwe gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Van Der Merwe has Walker pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Van Der Merwe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Walker tumbling to the mat - Van Der Merwe dives into Walker's guard. Walker is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Der Merwe defends well. Van Der Merwe stops Walker from standing up. Walker keeping full guard, as Van Der Merwe tries to pass.

Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Van Der Merwe throws a big right hand that misses. Van Der Merwe trying to control the position from guard on top but Walker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Van Der Merwe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jaap Van Der Merwe was stalling too much, according to the referee. Van Der Merwe rushes Walker and presses him up against the cage. Van Der Merwe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Van Der Merwe tries to land a sweep but no joy. Walker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Van Der Merwe works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Van Der Merwe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Walker tries to get to full guard but Van Der Merwe has control of the leg. Walker tries to kick Van Der Merwe off but Van Der Merwe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Van Der Merwe is thwarting Walker's attempts to control the position. Walker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Walker tries to kick Van Der Merwe off but Van Der Merwe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jaap Van Der Merwe will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jaap Van Der Merwe's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Van Der Merwe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walker is keeping the position for now. Walker wants to get back to his feet but Van Der Merwe passes into half guard.
Van Der Merwe wants to control but Walker is keeping him busy. Walker is looking to control Van Der Merwe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Walker avoid being mounted? Van Der Merwe is looking for a kimura but Walker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Van Der Merwe to get the leverage. Walker trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Van Der Merwe manages to pass to mount!
Van Der Merwe is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Walker has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Walker! Van Der Merwe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Walker's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Van Der Merwe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Walker is looking to escape. Walker tries to buck Van Der Merwe off but he can't manage it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Der Merwe has control of Walker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Walker regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Van Der Merwe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walker but Walker pushes him off and we're back to square one. Van Der Merwe tries to clinch up. Jaap Van Der Merwe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jaap Van Der Merwe's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Van Der Merwe seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Van Der Merwe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Van Der Merwe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Van Der Merwe has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Walker off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Walker lands a slapping body shot.
Van Der Merwe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Walker moves into the clinch. Van Der Merwe tries to pull guard but Walker holds him up against the cage and eventually Van Der Merwe drops back down to his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Van Der Merwe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Der Merwe stops Walker from standing up. Walker controls Van Der Merwe momentarily but Van Der Merwe frees himself. Van Der Merwe content to stall in guard here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Walker is looking to stand up but Van Der Merwe isn't so interested in that idea. Walker trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Van Der Merwe is defended easily by Walker. Van Der Merwe is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Walker's half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Der Merwe shoots in for a double leg but Walker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Walker lands a big uppercut and Van Der Merwe crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Van Der Merwe looks OK. Walker waves Van Der Merwe back to his feet! Van Der Merwe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Walker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Van Der Merwe somewhat. Walker rushes Van Der Merwe and presses him up against the cage. Walker lands an uppercut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Walker lands a shoulder strike.
Van Der Merwe is rocked! Walker softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Van Der Merwe is still on wobbly legs! Can Walker finish him? Walker turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Walker manages to end up in side control. Walker cracks Van Der Merwe with a big elbow. Van Der Merwe is trying to get back to half guard. Van Der Merwe is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Walker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Walker decides to stand back up. Walker steps back and let's Van Der Merwe get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker connects with a superb combination that knocks Van Der Merwe out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Walker before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Van Der Merwe!
