Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcelo Garcia! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Garcia but Garcia pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Garcia as he jumps to the side. Nelson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nelson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garcia manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Garcia manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garcia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Garcia had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nelson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Garcia Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nelson's back instead. Garcia wants to control but Nelson is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson is trying to break free.

Garcia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Garcia has his foot on Nelson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nelson works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nelson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Garcia tries to bench press Nelson off him but Nelson keeps the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Garcia is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nelson off and has taken his back! Garcia is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Nelson is defending well though. Garcia let's go of the attempt for now. Nelson is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Nelson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Garcia frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Garcia seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Nelson is holding on tight.
Garcia is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
