Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dante Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arcturus Balfour (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arcturus Balfour is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dante Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arcturus Balfour!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carver scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Balfour tries to buck Carver off but Carver is having none of it.

Carver tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carver has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Carver trying to control the action but Balfour is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carver throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Carver throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Balfour is looking for a sweep.
Carver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carver landing a few strikes.
Balfour really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carver working the ground and pound but Balfour is defending the strikes.

Carver is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Balfour knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Balfour tries to bench press Carver off him but Carver keeps the position.
Carver controlling the position from side mount.
Balfour managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Carver.

Carver looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carver wants to lay and pray for a moment but Balfour keeps working.
Carver tries to score with some ground and pound. Balfour controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Carver landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Carver wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Balfour, who protects the arm well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carver is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Balfour will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Balfour tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carver wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carver has hold of Balfour's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Balfour seems comfortable defending it but Carver has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Balfour is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Balfour is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Carver couldn't care less - he's delighted!
