Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Trik Turner - Friends and Family. Freddy Alves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Vegata!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegata misses the shot to the body.
Alves misses with a wild body shot.
Alves slips a straight right by Vegata.
Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice jab there from Vegata.
Alves pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Vegata lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
A jab from Vegata finds it's way through Alves's defenses.
Vegata comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Vegata thuds a left hand into Alves's body.

Alves throws a hook to the side of Vegata's head but Vegata sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vegata slips a jab from Alves.
Vegata swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Vegata ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alves moves away.
Vegata scores with a decent looking hook.
Vegata ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Alves punishes Vegata's body with a nice straight punch.
Vegata takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A jab from Vegata finds it's way through Alves's defenses.
Vegata misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alves.
Vegata throws a shot from downtown. Alves moves away and avoids it.
Vegata misses with a series of wild punches.
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Vegata, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Vegata against the cage but Vegata circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Alves counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Antonio Vegata has been cut.

A slow jab from Vegata misses its intended target.
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vegata.

Vegata throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alves tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Vegata is in Alves's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Vegata is pushing down on Alves's leg trying to pass to half guard. Alves is fighting to maintain full guard but Vegata has managed to sneak the leg through.
Vegata moves nicely into side control.

Vegata tries for a kimura but Alves is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Alves's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vegata thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Vegata is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alves wants to clinch up but Vegata keeps it at a distance.

Alves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Alves has a takedown stuffed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves.
Vegata throws a series of punches but Alves avoids them all with ease.
Alves takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Vegata fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alves avoids it really well and circles away.
Alves tries to clinch but Vegata is having none of it.
Alves loads up on a big right hand but Vegata slips the punch.

enabling Vegata to counter with a crisp jab.
Antonio Vegata is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Vegata darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Vegata fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vegata cracks Alves with a good jab.

Alves throws a right and a left that Vegata avoids nicely.
Vegata shoots in looking for a takedown but Alves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vegata's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Freddy Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Vegata.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Antonio Vegata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Vegata is looking to take a break and control but Alves is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Alves is looking to control Vegata's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alves avoid being mounted?

Vegata is looking for a kimura but Alves is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vegata to get the leverage.

Vegata is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alves has managed to free his arm - good work.
Antonio Vegata has got the better of the ground game so far.
Alves wants to improve his position but Vegata is controlling well.

Alves manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Alves is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vegata's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vegata's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vegata avoids the strikes from Alves.
Alves throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Alves lands a shot to the head.

Alves goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Vegata escapes and is now in half guard on top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vegata is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

And that's the end of the fight!
Antonio Vegata comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vegata has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
