Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kev Randle! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko closes the distance and clinches. Randle keeps control of Emelianenko as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Randle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Emelianenko pulls his leg out and moves away.
Emelianenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Randle. Randle closes the distance and clinches. Randle is trying to drag Emelianenko to the mat but Emelianenko just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. A right handed body shot lands from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko presses Randle against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Randle jumps guard and drags Emelianenko to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Emelianenko won't allow Randle to get back to his feet. Emelianenko trying to control but Randle is working from the bottom. Randle pushes Emelianenko off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Emelianenko does no damage. A momentary lapse in concentration from Emelianenko enables Randle to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Emelianenko manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Randle wants to pass the guard but Emelianenko is keeping the position. Randle gets to his feet. Emelianenko looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Randle sprawls well. Randle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Emelianenko gets slowly back to his feet. Sloppy strikes from Randle. Those never looked like landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko looks for a takedown but Randle sprawls well. Emelianenko clinches up with Randle and pushes him back against the cage. Emelianenko is breathing heavily. Randle jumps guard.
Emelianenko looking to sit in guard and control but Randle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Emelianenko can't keep his opponent in guard - Randle advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Randle looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Randle working over Emelianenko with some ground and pound. Emelianenko looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Randle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Randle is taking a breather. Emelianenko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Randle moves into full mount! Emelianenko won't be happy about that! Randle controlling his opponent. Emelianenko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Emelianenko tries to get out of the position. Randle has isolated one of Emelianenko's arms. Emelianenko looking to fight him off but Randle twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
