Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Mickles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Calloway! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mickles avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Calloway moves away from the strike by Mickles. A swing and a miss from Mickles. Mickles fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mickles defending well as Calloway loads up on a big left hand. Mickles loads up on a big right hand but Calloway slips the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calloway misses the shot to the body. Calloway misses with a looping left. Mickles darts in and clinches Calloway up against the cage. Calloway is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mickles displaying some good clinch control by pressing Calloway up against the cage. Calloway is trying to force a seperation but Mickles has the dominant position. Calloway drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mickles gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mickles working hard to break the clinch. Mickles lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Mickles pulls guard effortlessly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mickles is looking to stand up but Calloway isn't so interested in that idea. Mickles keeping full guard, as Calloway tries to pass. Mickles wants to stand and escape but Calloway is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Chris Mickles just wasn't active enough. Calloway lands a nice looking body kick. Mickles fails with an attempt to clinch.
Calloway is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mickles. Mickles thows a left - swing and a miss! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chris Mickles will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mickles sizes up Calloway with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Jab by Mickles. A lazy left from Mickles finds it's target. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Calloway slips a jab from Mickles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calloway misses with a hook
and Mickles counters with a nice body shot. Mickles connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Calloway momentarily.
A jab from Mickles misses. Mickles displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Calloway throws out the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mickles moves out of range as Calloway throws a body kick.
Calloway moves away from the strike by Mickles. Mickles avoids a kick to the body.
Mickles misses with a straight left.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mickles looks to land a right hand but Calloway moved out of range. Mickles misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Calloway.
Calloway misses with a few strikes there.
Mickles takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Calloway throws a right hand that misses
and Mickles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Calloway. A jab from Mickles finds it's way through Calloway's defenses. Calloway throws an off balance right hand
and Mickles counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Mickles dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Calloway ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mickles moves away. A head kick misses from Calloway. Mickles misses with a straight left. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Calloway dips to his left and cracks Mickles with an uppercut!
It looks like Chris Mickles has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mickles slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Calloway misses with a looping left. Mickles is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Mickles throws an overhand right that lands on Calloway's shoulder, as Calloway tries to avoid the shot. Calloway ducks under a wild hook from Mickles.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mickles steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Calloway. That one must have hurt. Mickles takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Mickles lands with a straight right. Calloway didn't see that one coming. Mickles swings for the body but Calloway moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calloway throws the left hand but Mickles avoids the punch easily. Mickles scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Calloway throws a shot from downtown. Mickles moves away and avoids it. Donk. Mickles catches Calloway right on the button with a cross.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Mickles moves away from the strike by Calloway. Mickles throws the left hand but Calloway avoids the punch easily. Calloway takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Mark Calloway has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chris Mickles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Calloway uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mickles.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Calloway comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Mickles has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
