Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Russell.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Russell which made him look bad.
Jones takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Jones fails to land the takedown.
Russell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
Russell shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Russell misses with a low kick.
Russell throws a head kick that Jones semi-blocks.
Russell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Jones trying to control but Russell is working from the bottom.
Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Russell dives on top into guard.
Russell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Jeb Russell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones avoids a kick to the body.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Ryan Jones has been cut.
Russell lands a glancing blow to the side of Jones's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Russell is trying to defend but Jones finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
Jones thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Russell to regain full guard.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Russell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Russell in his guard.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Russell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Russell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Russell trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Russell.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Russell.
Russell throws a head kick that Jones semi-blocks.
Russell fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Russell tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Russell explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Russell landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Russell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Russell manages to break the clinch.
Russell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Jeb Russell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Jones.
Jones has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Russell.
Jeb Russell is winning the standup battle so far.
Russell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Russell throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Jones crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
