The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

JohnnySeed bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
JohnnySeed trying to control the action but de Richelieu is working from the bottom.

de Richelieu gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
de Richelieu flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
de Richelieu tries to roll over but JohnnySeed keeps him under control.
JohnnySeed wants to stand up but de Richelieu has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fight stays on the outside here - de Richelieu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

de Richelieu tries to lock up and control but JohnnySeed gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

de Richelieu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. JohnnySeed swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
JohnnySeed gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and de Richelieu counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by de Richelieu.
JohnnySeed is pressed up against the cage. de Richelieu has hold of a leg and is looking to drag JohnnySeed down to the mat. JohnnySeed avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and JohnnySeed counters with a nice double leg into side control. de Richelieu won't be happy with that.

JohnnySeed is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, de Richelieu has managed to free his arm - good work.
de Richelieu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of JohnnySeed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take JohnnySeed's back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - de Richelieu's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
