Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy War (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy War!

War changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Byrd tries to avoid it but War manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Byrd to the ground. Byrd escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
War shoots in looking for a takedown. Byrd tries to sprawl out of it but War keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Byrd manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Randy War showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Byrd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

War wants to pass to mount but Byrd is defending the position.
Byrd has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. War is working away from the top position though.
Randy War has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
War looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Byrd tries to kick War off but War keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
War is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
War pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Randy War seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Byrd blocks a head kick by War.
Byrd tries to clinch

and War counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Byrd's guard now.
War throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

War stands and steps away. Byrd gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
War closes this distance looking for a takedown but Byrd circles away.

Horrible takedown by Byrd or perhaps it was just good defense by War which made him look bad.

Well War has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
