Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between German Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Kuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shepherd's entrance music is Bahay Kubo. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, German Shepherd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Kuraba!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepherd blocks a head kick by Kuraba.
Kuraba misses with a low kick.
Shepherd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kuraba avoids it really well and circles away.
Shepherd slips a jab from Kuraba.
Kuraba misses with an uppercut. Shepherd saw that one coming.
Shepherd closes the distance and clinches up with Kuraba, looking for a takedown. Shepherd pushes Kuraba against the cage but Kuraba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kuraba misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kuraba throws a right hand that Shepherd ducks under and follows up with a left that Shepherd also avoids with ease.
Kuraba tests Shepherd's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kuraba throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shepherd.
Shepherd keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kuraba.
Kuraba finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Shepherd fails with the takedown
and Kuraba counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for German Shepherd. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shepherd uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kuraba.
Shepherd takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Shepherd throws a sloppy body shot
enabling Kuraba to counter with a crisp jab.
Kuraba misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shepherd tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kuraba swivels and escapes.
Shepherd ducks under a wild hook from Kuraba.
Shepherd steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kuraba.

Shepherd shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kuraba manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Shepherd with a nice head shot there.
Shepherd content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kuraba wants to get back to his feet but Shepherd is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Shepherd lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kuraba avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Shepherd drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kuraba looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kuraba looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kuraba!
Shepherd sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Shepherd has a hand on Kuraba's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kuraba takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuraba wants to get back to his feet but Shepherd is holding on tight.
Kuraba wants to control the pace but Shepherd is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shepherd is looking to get to half guard.

Kuraba is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Shepherd has his takedown stuffed
and Kuraba counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kuraba lands with a nice combination. Shepherd backs away looking to recover.

Shepherd closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kuraba to the mat! Kuraba manages to get full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Shepherd postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kuraba is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shepherd, into his guard.

Kuraba gets to his feet - Shepherd follows without any prompting.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kuraba fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kuraba comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shepherd throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Shepherd misses the target.
Kuraba feints a jab promting Shepherd to slip. Kuraba then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Shepherd slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Shepherd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kuraba avoids it really well and circles away.
Shepherd shoots in for a double leg but Kuraba sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A jab from Kuraba misses.
Kenji Kuraba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shepherd is defended easily by Kuraba.
Shepherd dodges the punch combination from Kuraba.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Kuraba lands a slapping body shot.
Kuraba fails to land with a series of punches.
A left and a right from Kuraba both land. Nice combination.
Shepherd shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kuraba as he jumps to the side.

Shepherd fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oh Shepherd is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Crack! A monster head kick from Kuraba and Shepherd falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Kuraba!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kenji Kuraba!
