Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Baginski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woima Karhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Piotr Baginski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Woima Karhu!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karhu takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Baginski shoots and misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Karhu shoots in for a takedown but Baginski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Baginski shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Karhu is trying to defend but Baginski finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Baginski is keen to just control but Karhu is a slippery customer.

Baginski is working for a kimura but Karhu is defending it quite comfortably.

Karhu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Woima Karhu wasn't active enough on the ground.

Baginski gets the takedown into side control.
Karhu is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Baginski shoots in for a takedown but Karhu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Karhu fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Baginski to the ground. Karhu is now in Baginski's guard.
Karhu wants to control from the top but Baginski keeps moving.

Karhu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Baginski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Baginski has escaped and now he's on top!

Baginski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Karhu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Karhu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Karhu!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Baginski parries the strikes from Karhu easily there. Karhu is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Baginski to escape.

Karhu is looking to take a break and control but Baginski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Karhu swings around for an armbar but Baginski sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Karhu's guard.

Baginski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Karhu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Karhu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Karhu!

Karhu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baginski, who protects the arm well.
Karhu taking a break here but Baginski is having none of it and regains half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karhu is keen to just control but Baginski is a slippery customer.
Karhu looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Karhu is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Karhu is looking for a kimura but Baginski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Karhu to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Woima Karhu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Baginski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Baginski looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Karhu!

Baginski wants to work for an arm triangle but Karhu is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Baginski trying to control the action but Karhu is working from the bottom.

Karhu gets back to full guard.
Karhu is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Baginski drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Karhu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Baginski has Karhu in his guard.
Karhu wants to control from the top but Baginski keeps moving.
Karhu is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Woima Karhu hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Baginski fails with a takedown attempt.
Baginski throws a hook to the side of Karhu's head but Karhu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Baginski throws a good cross that connects.
A head kick misses from Karhu.
Baginski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Baginski misses with a looping right.

Karhu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Karhu tries to free his leg and advance position but Baginski is retaining full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karhu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Baginski's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baginski is trying to get back to full guard.
Karhu tries to pass to full mount but Baginski defends it.

Karhu is working for a kimura but Baginski is defending it quite comfortably.
Baginski is controlling Karhu's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Baginski is defending against the submission attempts here by Karhu.
Baginski is not content to let Karhu control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Woima Karhu.
I think Karhu has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
