Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwax Mags (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes into the arena with Sail by AWOLNATION blaring out of the sound system. Chris Griffin has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edwax Mags! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Griffin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Griffin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mags knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Griffin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mags is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mags tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Griffin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Griffin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Griffin tries for a kimura but Mags is defending well. Griffin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Griffin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mags controls the position for a moment. Mags looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mags is trying to get back to his feet. Mags is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Griffin off and has taken his back! Griffin tries to break free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Griffin breaks Mags's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Mags working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Griffin. Griffin with a nice head shot there. Griffin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mags manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Griffin has Mags in his guard. Mags sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Griffin's guard. Mags wants to control but Griffin is keeping him busy. This has been an exciting period of action! Griffin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Griffin working for a triangle but Mags defends it easily.
Griffin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mags is aware though and is defending well. Griffin keeping moving, preventing Mags from controlling successfully. Mags got a little sloppy there for a moment and Griffin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mags has managed to get both his arms back between Griffin's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mags doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mags manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Griffin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Griffin has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Mags. Oh but Griffin has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Mags goes limp - he's gone! Griffin jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
