Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Jackel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mellissa Roy! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roy avoids it really well and circles away. Roy scores with a takedown into Jackel's guard. Roy stands and steps away. Jackel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. A leg kick checked by Jackel. Roy misses with a wild combination.
No luck for Jackel with that takedown attempt. Roy misses with a head kick.

A looping hook to the body misses from Roy. Jackel does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Roy. Those never looked like landing. Jackel throws a head kick that misses. Jackel misses with a takedown and Roy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackel's guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Jackel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackel looking to control.
Roy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jackel is not content to let Roy control the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Jackel is pushing Roy's head away, looking to escape. Roy manages to hold on to the position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jackel is trying to control Roy's posture but Roy avoids it. Roy decides to stand back up. Roy steps back and let's Jackel get back to his feet. Roy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jackel to the ground. Roy is now in Jackel's guard. Roy controlling from the top position. Roy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Jackel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Roy! Roy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jackel looking to control but Roy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jackel prevents Roy from getting the reversal. Roy tries to hold on but Jackel postures up. Roy is looking to get to half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Poor strikes thrown by Jackel there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roy can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roy working to try and regain half guard.
Jackel misses with a head shot. Jackel is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Jackel extends the arm and Roy is forced to tap!
