Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mystic Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mystic Hammer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Jones!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Hammer looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones stalling.
I looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hammer is letting Jones control him for a moment.
Hammer is not content to let Jones control the position.
Jones takes a little break here. Hammer wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jay Jones just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jones forces Hammer back against the cage and clinches.
Hammer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

Jones pulls Hammer into guard.
Hammer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hammer defends it well.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hammer's guard.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Still in half guard, Jones seems content to control.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Hammer is defending well.
Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jones pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hammer is looking to escape.

Jones passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hammer is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jones off and has taken his back!

Hammer has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Hammer is trying to stick to Jones's back but Jones is turning into Hammer. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hammer's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jones.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jay Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!



Jones rushes Hammer and presses him up against the cage.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hammer has his takedown stuffed
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hammer's guard now.

Hammer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hammer has his hands on Jones's head, controlling the position.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hammer is looking to sweep but instead, Jones has passed into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones works his way into full mount!
Jones breaks from Hammer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jones avoids the attempt from Hammer to control.
Hammer looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Hammer looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Jones scores with punches and elbows.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hammer turns into Jones and is now in his guard.

Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hammer advances to half guard.
Jones gets back to full guard.
Jones is trying to keep Hammer in close.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hammer is sitting in close to Jones's body. Jones has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hammer is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hammer is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jones.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jay Jones!
