Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson missing with a left hand there. Cortez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Robertson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Robertson stuffs the takedown attempt from Cortez. Cortez gets slowly back to his feet.

Cortez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Robertson defends it nicely.

Robertson cracks Cortez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cortez shoots for a double leg takedown but Robertson sprawls well. He's pushed Cortez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cortez needs to keep his hands up - Robertson had a free shot at his head there.

Cortez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Robertson moves in looking to clinch but Cortez pushes him off.

Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cortez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Cortez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cortez.

Robertson wants to stand and escape but Cortez is having none of it.
Cortez wants to pass the guard but Robertson is keeping the position.

Cortez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cortez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cortez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cortez prevents Robertson from getting back to his feet.
Robertson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cortez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cortez drops back looking for a leg! Robertson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Robertson manages to kick Cortez off! Cortez jumps back into Robertson's guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Robertson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Robert Robertson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Robertson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
