Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyler Durden! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Durden throws a shot from downtown. Hughes moves away and avoids it. Hughes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Durden sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Durden misses with a jab, cross combination.
Durden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Durden fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hughes on the side of the head. Hughes has a takedown stuffed. Durden misses with a straight left. Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Durden counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hughes has a takedown stuffed. Durden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Hughes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Durden is looking to break free of the clinch but Hughes has double underhooks. Durden escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durden tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durden to the ground. Durden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Durden regains full guard. Nicely done. Hughes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Durden is retaining full guard. Durden controls Hughes momentarily but Hughes frees himself. Durden avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Durden is controlling Hughes's posture. Hughes postures up in Durden's guard and throws a big left but Durden blocks it. Durden bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard. Durden thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Durden preventing the sweep. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hughes is trying to control the position but Durden postures up. Durden controlling from the top position. Durden is looking to stand up but Hughes won't let him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hughes closes the distance looking to clinch and Durden counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hughes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hughes missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Durden tries to roll over but Hughes keeps him under control. Hughes is looking for a kimura but Durden is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hughes to get the leverage. Durden holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. The fighters are battling for position here. Durden manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Durden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Durden has momentary wrist control but Hughes slips an elbow through the middle. Durden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Durden is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hughes is controlling him. Durden manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Durden content just to control the position here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hughes is desperately trying to improve his position but Durden has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tyler Durden will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Hughes fails with a takedown attempt. Nice takedown defense from Durden. No joy for Hughes on that attempt. Durden misses with a series of wild punches.

Durden is trying to break the clinch but Hughes has him pressed against the cage. Durden wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown but Durden shows good takedown defense. Mark Hughes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hughes wants to clinch up but Durden keeps it at a distance. Hughes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Durden throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Durden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Durden misses with a hook. Hughes ducked under it nicely. Hughes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Durden lands a lovely overhand right. Hughes scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Mark Hughes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Durden tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Durden is trying to control Hughes's posture but Hughes avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Durden is not content to let Hughes control the position. Hughes is putting a hurting on Durden here, landing some big shots from side control. Durden prevents Hughes from improving position. Durden avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hughes. Hughes working the strikes but Durden uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Durden is looking to control Hughes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Durden avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Durden blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hughes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes stalling away here and it's allowed Durden to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Hughes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hughes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hughes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hughes postures up in Durden's guard and throws a big left but Durden blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Durden is controlling Hughes's posture. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Durden keeping full guard, as Hughes tries to pass. Durden pulls Hughes in close to prevent any damage. Hughes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hughes postures up in Durden's guard and throws a big left but Durden blocks it. Hughes throws and elbow that misses. Durden uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hughes's guard. Nice move by Durden! Durden won't allow Hughes to sweep him here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hughes wants to improve his position but instead Durden has moved into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Hughes will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Durden lands a nice hook to Hughes's body. Hughes takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. No joy there for Durden, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hughes is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Durden. Durden cracks Hughes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Durden pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hughes back to the cage. Durden follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Durden lands with a straight right. Hughes didn't see that one coming. Durden jabs at Hughes's body. Durden throws a right hand that Hughes ducks under and follows up with a left that Hughes also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Durden throws a nice looking combination but Hughes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Durden misses with a series of wild punches.
Hughes misses with a takedown attempt - Durden sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Durden misses with the combination.
Durden throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hughes on the side of the head. Durden connects with a body shot that sends Hughes's belly button to the back. Durden looks to score with a jab to the body but Hughes is just out of range. Durden throws out a powerful jab. Durden thuds his right hand into Hughes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hughes is rocked! Tyler Durden is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Durden scores with a jab to the body. Oh Hughes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hughes drops his hands for a split second and Durden immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Hughes face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Durden follows up with a right hand that knocks Hughes into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
