Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clay Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Hershey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams comes to the cage accompanied by Time to say goodbye. Hershey has chosen Rising to the Top as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Clay Adams has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clay Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Hershey!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams throws a sloppy head kick and Hershey moves out of range easily.
Hershey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adams is fending him off so far but Hershey persists. Nope, Adams circles away and we're back to standing.
Adams has his takedown stuffed
and Hershey counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Adams is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hershey.
Adams dives in and grabs Hershey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hershey pushes down on Adams's head and hops out.
Adams fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clay Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hershey rushes Adams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Hershey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A good leg kick by Hershey.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hershey closes the distance and pushes Adams back into the cage.
Adams's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hershey tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Hershey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hershey lands a leg kick that knocks Adams off balance momentarily.
Adams is breathing heavily.
Hershey lands with a thumping leg kick.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Adams. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Hershey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hershey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hershey wants to finish this one by submission but Adams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hershey.

Hershey has hold of Adams's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Adams manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Hershey is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Adams can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hershey postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Adams looks a forlorn figure.

Hershey looking to control but Adams is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Adams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Adams tries to hold on but Hershey postures up.

Hershey jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Adams manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Hershey postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Adams tries to improve position but can't.
Hershey is looking to take a break and control but Adams is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hershey stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Adams shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hershey defends it nicely.
Adams shoots for a takedown but Hershey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hershey keeps the fight on the outside.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Adams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hershey on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Steve Hershey dominated that round.
That's time! Adams's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Adams misses with a takedown attempt - Hershey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adams tries for a takedown but Hershey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hershey feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Adams's calf.

Hershey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hershey lands a head kick!
Hershey throws a right hand that Adams ducks under and follows up with a left that Adams also avoids with ease.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hershey.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A nice leg kick lands there from Adams.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Adams is defended easily by Hershey.

Hershey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Adams tries to avoid it but Hershey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Adams to the ground. Adams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hershey slaps away a takedown attempt from Adams, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hershey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Adams avoids it really well and circles away.
Adams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hershey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hershey sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Adams is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Hershey tries to clinch up but Adams circles away and keeps his distance.

Adams gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hershey to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Adams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Adams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hershey wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.
Hershey controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Steve Hershey has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hershey lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hershey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hershey stands up and waves to Adams to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Hershey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Hershey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Adams's head.
Hershey passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hershey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hershey is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Adams looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hershey gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Adams is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hershey lets go of the hold and Adams can pop his arm back in it's socket.
