PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mac comes to the cage accompanied by Dump the Clip. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams slips a jab from Mac.
Frank Mac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mac getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Mac misses with a looping left.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mac sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Williams takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Williams misses with a few strikes there.
Mac lands a jab to Williams's midsection.

Williams shoots in and drives through. Mac sprawls well.
Mac scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from Mac.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mac avoids it really well and circles away.
Frank Mac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Williams.
Mac throws a looping overhand right but Williams ducks down to avoid it.
Williams throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Mac misses the jab.
Mac bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Williams's head.

Mac lands with a good body shot.
Williams looks for a takedown but Mac sprawls well.
Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mac swivels and escapes.

Mac fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Williams is defended easily by Mac.
Williams blocks a jab.
Mac lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Williams shoots in looking for a takedown but Mac manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Williams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mac connects with a jab.
Mac swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mac connects with a body shot.
Mac tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Williams manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mac is looking to clinch but Williams is avoiding it.
Mac is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Mac bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Williams's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mac throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Williams stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mac throws a jab but it's blocked by Williams.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Mac's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mac keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
Williams shoots in but Mac avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Frank Mac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Williams.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mac throws a jab when Williams was well out of range.
Rex Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mac stuffs the takedown attempt from Williams. Williams gets slowly back to his feet.

Mac pushes Williams up against the cage in a clinch.
The referee calls for Mac to work.
Mac keeps control of Williams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Williams has had enough of the clinch but Mac keeps him there for the moment.
Mac tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Mac blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Williams is trying desperately to land a takedown but Mac is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Williams.

Williams is trying to push Mac away but Mac has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mac prevents the takedown attempt.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mac.

Mac lands with a right to the head.
Mac lands with a light punch inside.
Mac lands a body shot.
Williams is trying to force a seperation but Mac has the dominant position.

Mac breaks from the clinch.
Frank Mac is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Williams tries for a takedown but Mac circles away easily
and Mac counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Williams throws out a loose jab but Mac uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams closes the distance and clinches up with Mac, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes Mac against the cage but Mac circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mac fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Williams takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Mac leaves Williams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Williams avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mac misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mac dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Mac displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Williams.
Mac ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nice sprawl there from Mac as Williams shoots in.
Williams ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mac cracks Williams with a good jab.
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.
Frank Mac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Williams.
Mac misses with a hook to the body

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Mac fights it but they end up in guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Williams passes Mac's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Williams is looking to advance position but Mac won't allow it.
Mac pushes Williams off looking to stand but Williams dives back in and keeps control.

Williams seems to be working for a kimura but Mac defends the submission attempt.

Williams decides to stand and escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams takes a jab right on the kisser.
Williams uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mac.
Nice uppercut there from Mac.
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mac misses with a lunging right hand

and Williams counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mac is trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mac is not content to let Williams control the position.
Mac really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Williams fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Mac can't do much from the bottom here.
Mac prevents Williams from moving into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams trying to control the action but Mac is working from the bottom.
Williams works to advance to full mount. Mac defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mac holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Williams tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Williams wants to control but Mac has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Rex Williams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mac sees it coming and defends easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams slips a nice elbow through Mac's hands, connecting with Mac's forehead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rex Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mac has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
