The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a combination that misses
and Lawson counters with a right hand to the body.
Lawson throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lawson swivels and escapes.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lawson sprawls well. Lawson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Lawson.
Lawson lands a jab.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Lawson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Smith. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Lawson drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lawson is looking for the KO!

Lawson is pawing at Smith, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Smith's nose. Smith is badly hurt! Lawson pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Smith tries desperately to hold on but Lawson is relentless in his assault! As Smith receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Lawson away and this one is in the books!
