Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Sanders!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sanders shoots in for a takedown but Mason shows good takedown defense.
Mason throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mason tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanders was well out of range. Poor timing from Mason.
Sanders lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sanders.
Mason tries to clinch up.
Mason swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Sanders counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mason utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sanders with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mason working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sanders.
Sanders distracts Mason with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mason keeping moving, preventing Sanders from controlling successfully.

Sanders wants to pass the guard but Mason is keeping the position.

Sanders lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sanders throws a strike but Mason rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mason is breathing heavily.

Mason drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mason jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sanders is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mason is trying to stand up here but Sanders is controlling him well.

Sanders looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mason with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sanders stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Marshall Mason is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sanders scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanders looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Sanders is nestled in close to Mason, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanders lands a nice short elbow.

Sanders throws a strike but Mason rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Sanders bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mason's guard.
Sanders is working Mason over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Sanders loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sanders's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sanders keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mason's head.

Mason prevents Sanders from moving into mount.
Mason pushes Sanders away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sanders gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sanders advances nicely into full mount.
Mason in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Sanders landing strikes, looking to finish!
Sanders is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mason can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
