Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshiro Gomi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Keio Jun! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Gomi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jun swivels and escapes. Gomi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gomi swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gomi moves away from the strike by Jun. Yoshiro Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot by Jun. Gomi drops his hands momentarily and Jun takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomi is defended easily by Jun. A decent looking cross lands there for Jun. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jun checks a leg kick. Gomi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice uppercut there from Jun. Jun rushes Gomi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A right handed body shot lands from Jun.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jun pushes Gomi back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. A left hand lands to the body for Jun.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jun creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Still in the clinch, Jun scores with a nice short uppercut. Gomi goes for a takedown attempt but Jun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshiro Gomi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gomi tries for a takedown but Jun circles away easily and Jun makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Gomi is breathing heavily. Jun lunges at Gomi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gomi's hand. Jun tries to clinch but Gomi moves out of range. Jun closes the distance and clinches. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jun creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A short right from Jun on the inside. Jun manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jun scores with an uppercut up the middle. Jun lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Gomi. Gomi goes for a takedown attempt but Jun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gomi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Jun is doing well to control the position and prevent Gomi from advancing to side control. Jun trying to control from the bottom.
Gomi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jun knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gomi wants to control but Jun is keeping him busy. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jun can do anything to dispel that myth. Gomi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gomi prevents Jun from improving his position.

Jun is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jun decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gomi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck for Gomi with that takedown attempt. Gomi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jun as he jumps to the side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jun buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jun stuffs the takedown attempt from Gomi. Gomi gets slowly back to his feet. Jun jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jun thuds his right hand into Gomi's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gomi closes the distance and clinches up with Jun, looking for a takedown. Gomi pushes Jun against the cage but Jun circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gomi swats away the attempt to clinch by Jun. Gomi thuds a left hand into Jun's body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jun looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Keio Jun is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jun fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Jun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gomi swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gomi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jun's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Keio Jun dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jun clobbers Gomi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The fighters circling - Jun throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jun tries to clinch up. Gomi walks into a straight right hand from Jun. Gomi with a poor takedown and Jun counters with a nice uppercut. Jun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gomi swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jun defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomi. Gomi misses with a takedown and Jun counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshiro Gomi. Jun gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
