Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taj Mahal!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Hong!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahal shoots in for a takedown but Hong shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hong clinches up against the cage.
Hong lands with a right to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Hong fails to land.
Mahal has Hong pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hong manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mahal tries to score a body lock takedown but Hong shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Taj Mahal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hong misses with the head strike.
Mahal tries to pull guard but Hong holds him up against the cage and eventually Mahal drops back down to his feet.
Hong stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Mahal tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hong throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hong lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Mahal is breathing heavily.
Hong cracks Mahal with a nice body shot.
Hong lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mahal backwards.
Hong scores with a shoulder strike.
A right handed body shot lands from Hong.
Mahal's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hong lands a body shot.
Mahal takes a shot to the head.
A body shot lands from Hong.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hong drops Mahal onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Mahal is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Mahal is rocked!
Hong lands with a right to the head.
Oh Mahal is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hong throws a big uppercut that drops Mahal! More strikes from Hong and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Mahal lies dazed against the cage as Hong celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Antonio Hong! Antonio Hong retains his heavyweight title!
