Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Motta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiyai Wanggai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiyai Wanggai has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Motta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kiyai Wanggai!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Motta shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Wanggai is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Motta content just to control the position here.
Wanggai can't escape the position.
Wanggai takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Motta is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Wanggai gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Motta to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Motta loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Wanggai looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Motta trying to control the position from guard on top but Wanggai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wanggai pulls Motta in close to his closed guard and prevents Motta from doing any damage or advancing position.
Wanggai is trying to control the position but Motta postures up.
Wanggai might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Motta kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kiyai Wanggai wasn't active enough on the ground.

Motta shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Motta tries to pass to full mount but Wanggai defends it.
Wanggai is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Motta takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Motta controlling the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Leandro Motta.

and Motta counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wanggai!

Motta is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wanggai has managed to escape the submission attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Motta tries to control but Wanggai wriggling away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Motta throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wanggai was covering up waiting for the punch and Motta finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Motta has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Motta decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Wanggai fails with an attempt to clinch.

Motta throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wanggai was covering up waiting for the punch and Motta finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Motta decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wanggai, up you get!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wanggai enables Motta to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wanggai manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Wanggai keeping moving, preventing Motta from controlling successfully.
Motta slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Motta wants to control from the top but Wanggai keeps moving.

Wanggai has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Motta can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wanggai is breathing heavily.

Wanggai works his way to full guard. Good work.
Motta is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Leandro Motta overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Motta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wanggai on the ground.
Wanggai is looking to improve his position.

Wanggai is refusing to be controlled, as Motta sits in half guard.

Motta throwing shots but Wanggai is blocking nicely.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Motta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wanggai is trying to get back to half guard.
Wanggai is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Motta decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Wanggai shoots in for a double leg but Motta sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Motta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Motta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Motta stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Motta postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wanggai looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wanggai can't escape the position.
Motta trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Motta avoids the attempt from Wanggai to control.
Motta sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Wanggai tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wanggai is in a horrible position here. Motta smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Wanggai tries to reverse the position but Motta maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leandro Motta showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Motta has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
