PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tzvika Furman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralf Mittendorf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tzvika Furman looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Tzvika Furman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ralf Mittendorf!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furman shoots for a takedown but Mittendorf saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Furman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Furman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mittendorf throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mittendorf misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mittendorf misses with a few strikes there.
Mittendorf fails with the takedown

and Furman counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Mittendorf looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Furman trying to control the position from guard on top but Mittendorf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mittendorf is looking to stand up but Furman isn't so interested in that idea.
Mittendorf looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Furman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mittendorf swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mittendorf has his foot on Furman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Furman works his way back into a safe position though.
Mittendorf is trying to keep Furman in close.
Mittendorf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Furman trying to move into half guard but instead Mittendorf has managed to sweep!
Furman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mittendorf puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Furman has one foot on Mittendorf's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mittendorf shoots in for a double leg but Furman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Furman looks for a takedown but Mittendorf sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tzvika Furman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mittendorf connects with a jab.
Furman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mittendorf as he avoids it easily.
Furman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mittendorf shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Furman as he jumps to the side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Furman thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mittendorf if he has to take too many more of those.

and Mittendorf counters with a nice double leg into side control. Furman won't be happy with that.
Furman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mittendorf stands up and beckons Furman to his feet.

Mittendorf looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Furman!
Mittendorf has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Furman's face.
Furman is squirming around, avoiding Mittendorf's attempts to control the action.

Mittendorf looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mittendorf is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Furman is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Furman tries to hold on but Mittendorf postures up.

Mittendorf working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Furman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Mittendorf has control of Furman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Furman regains control of the situation pretty easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Furman is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ralf Mittendorf dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mittendorf rushes Furman and presses him up against the cage.

Mittendorf breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mittendorf connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Furman to the floor! Mittendorf dives in looking for the finish!


Furman is rocked!
Furman wants to control but Mittendorf is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Oh Furman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mittendorf decides to stand up.
Crack! A monster head kick from Mittendorf and Furman falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Mittendorf!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ralf Mittendorf!
