Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Shields! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Martin Hawk! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields shoots in and gets a takedown into Hawk's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Shields sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hawk's guard. Shields is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shields is controlling the pace.
Shields works his way into side control. Hawk is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shields asserts his dominance and retains side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawk can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields trying to control the action but Hawk is working from the bottom. Shields advances to mount. Hawk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shields. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hawk really wants to buck Shields off and get back to his feet. Shields content just to control the position here. Shields has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hawk's face.
Shields raining down hammerfists from mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Shields looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Hawk looks gassed! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hawk is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Hawk is rocked! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shields cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hawk is still in real trouble! Can Shields finish him? Shields controlling the position easily from mount. Shields lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Hawk! Shields sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Hawk and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jake Shields!
