PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mako Jr Mahtava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnus Svenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mahtava might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wintersun - Beyond the dark sun. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahtava is trying hard to land a takedown here. Svenson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mahtava takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mahtava takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Svenson lands with an overhand left.
Nice sprawl there from Svenson as Mahtava shoots in.
Svenson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mahtava on the side of the head.
Mahtava moves forwards but Svenson connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Svenson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Svenson duly obliges.
Svenson stuffs the takedown attempt from Mahtava. Mahtava gets slowly back to his feet.

Mahtava shoots for a double leg takedown but Svenson sprawls well. He's pushed Mahtava's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mahtava moves forwards but Svenson connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Svenson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Svenson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Svenson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mahtava had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Svenson lands a lovely overhand right.
Svenson leaves Mahtava with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Svenson stuffs the takedown attempt from Mahtava. Mahtava gets slowly back to his feet.
Svenson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mahtava at a distance.

Svenson connects with a body shot that sends Mahtava's belly button to the back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mahtava looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Svenson is fending him off so far but Mahtava persists. Nope, Svenson circles away and we're back to standing.

Svenson is looking to chop away at Mahtava's legs.
Mahtava misses with a takedown attempt - Svenson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Svenson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mahtava. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Mahtava closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Mahtava looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Svenson sizes up Mahtava with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Svenson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mahtava shoots in for a takedown but Svenson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Svenson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mahtava closes this distance looking for a takedown but Svenson circles away.
Svenson throws a solid leg kick but Mahtava takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Svenson.

Svenson lands a nice shot that snaps Mahtava's head back.

Magnus Svenson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mahtava on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Svenson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Svenson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Mahtava drives through with a takedown into Svenson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mahtava prevents Svenson from getting back to his feet.

Mahtava has gone for a leg lock! Svenson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mahtava's guard.

Magnus Svenson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Mahtava looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Svenson is fending him off so far but Mahtava persists. Nope, Svenson circles away and we're back to standing.

Mahtava takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Svenson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Magnus Svenson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mahtava closes the distance and pushes Svenson back into the cage.

Mahtava gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Svenson regains guard.

Magnus Svenson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mahtava wants to control but Svenson is keeping him busy.
Mahtava stops Svenson from getting back to his feet.
Mahtava throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mahtava is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Svenson defends it well.
Mahtava is looking to take a break and control but Svenson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Svenson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Svenson is staying active underneath Mahtava, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mako Jr Mahtava has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mako Jr Mahtava.
I think Svenson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
