Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Lingad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Gunther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunther comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Common - Make My Day kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Todd Gunther has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jon Lingad's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunther rushes Lingad and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lingad tries to pull guard but Gunther holds him up against the cage and eventually Lingad drops back down to his feet.
Gunther tries a knee to the head but Lingad blocks it.

Lingad drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gunther gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gunther throws a knee to the head but misses.
Gunther is pressed up against the cage. Lingad has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gunther down to the mat. Gunther avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Lingad. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gunther throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Todd Gunther is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gunther.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gunther.

Gunther pushes Lingad up against the cage in a clinch.
Lingad has Gunther pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gunther manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Lingad wants to hit a switch here but Gunther passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lingad there!

Lingad is in a horrible position here. Gunther smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lingad shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lingad was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lingad postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gunther looks a forlorn figure.

Lingad throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gunther's waist but Gunther gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lingad off to one side.

Lingad is taking a breather. Gunther says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Lingad.
I think Gunther has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
