PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dmonray Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Estrella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malapitan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, My Time is Now. Estrella has chosen Lita Ford - Black Widow as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejandro Estrella!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malapitan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Estrella counters with a three punch combo that has Malapitan backing up. Malapitan nods at Estrella to acknowledge the strikes.
Malapitan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Estrella as he jumps to the side.
Estrella misses with a double jab.
Estrella defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Malapitan.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmonray Malapitan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Malapitan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Estrella but Estrella pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horrible takedown by Malapitan or perhaps it was just good defense by Estrella which made him look bad.

Malapitan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Estrella can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Malapitan trying to control the position from guard on top but Estrella is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Malapitan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Estrella dives on top into guard.
Estrella wants to stand and escape but instead Malapitan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Estrella looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Estrella keeping moving, preventing Malapitan from controlling successfully.
Malapitan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Malapitan gets to his feet - Estrella follows without any prompting.

Malapitan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Estrella pinned against the cage. Estrella gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Malapitan pushes Estrella up against the cage in a clinch.

Malapitan tries to pull guard but Estrella won't allow it.
Estrella tries to break free but Malapitan pushes him back against the cage.
Estrella wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Estrella breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Malapitan has closed the distance and engaged Estrella in a clinch.

Estrella pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Estrella scores with a nice head shot.
Malapitan fails with the takedown.
Estrella throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Malapitan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Estrella's guard now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Malapitan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Estrella is trying to control the position but Malapitan postures up.

Estrella looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Malapitan throws a big right hand that misses.
Estrella wants to stand and escape but Malapitan is having none of it.
Malapitan works over Estrella with some ground and pound from guard.
Malapitan stands up over Estrella, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Malapitan chips away with some ground and pound.
Malapitan lands a couple of digs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Malapitan prevents Estrella from getting back to his feet.
Malapitan is in close to Estrella's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Malapitan passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Malapitan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Malapitan closes the distance and clinches up with Estrella, looking for a takedown. Malapitan pushes Estrella against the cage but Estrella circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Estrella scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Malapitan is rocked!

It looks like Dmonray Malapitan has been cut.
Estrella scores with a hook to the body. Malapitan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Estrella throws an overhand right that lands on Malapitan's shoulder, as Malapitan tries to avoid the shot.
No joy there for Estrella, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Estrella throws a right hand that Malapitan ducks under and follows up with a left that Malapitan also avoids with ease.
Malapitan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Malapitan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Malapitan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Estrella napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Malapitan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Malapitan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Estrella striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Malapitan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Malapitan in side control lands a decent elbow.

Malapitan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Malapitan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Estrella is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Malapitan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Malapitan is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Estrella is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
