The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlson Jr dives in and scores a takedown into James's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
James wants to stand up but Carlson Jr is controlling him.

Carlson Jr pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces James back to the cage. Carlson Jr follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carlson Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
James is pressing down on Carlson Jr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carlson Jr manages to get himself to full guard.

James wants to stand but Carlson Jr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
