Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Chad Carlson Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett James! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlson Jr dives in and scores a takedown into James's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. James wants to stand up but Carlson Jr is controlling him. James working for a triangle but Carlson Jr defends it easily.
Carlson Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carlson Jr wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position. James trying to keep a closed guard but Carlson Jr is proving a slippery customer.
Carlson Jr slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Carlson Jr creates some space and throws a big elbow, but James sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlson Jr wants to control for a moment but James uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Carlson Jr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carlson Jr wants to control but James is keeping him busy. James tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. James is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James makes his way to full guard. A much better position for James. Carlson Jr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now. James bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carlson Jr's guard. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Carlson Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. James postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Carlson Jr is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of James, into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Carlson Jr. James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Carlson Jr got a little sloppy there for a moment and James has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carlson Jr has managed to get both his arms back between James's legs - danger averted. James working a defensive guard here.
Carlson Jr pushes down on James's leg and manages to get into half guard. James is looking to control Carlson Jr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carlson Jr pulls his head out easily. James wants to get back to his feet.

James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carlson Jr defends well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James managing to control the position. James trying to keep a closed guard but Carlson Jr is proving a slippery customer.

A close round but Brett James will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Carlson Jr scores with a sloppy right hand. James should have avoided that one. Carlson Jr clobbers James with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. James throws a combination that misses and Carlson Jr counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. James misses with a two punch combination.
Carlson Jr throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carlson Jr looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range. James misses with a two punch combination.
James throws a head kick that misses. James misses with a wild body shot. James swings away with a body shot that misses
and Carlson Jr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carlson Jr looks to clinch and James counters with a stiff right hand. Carlson Jr pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces James back to the cage. Carlson Jr follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A looping hook to the body misses from Carlson Jr. James does a little dance to reset his feet. James looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. No luck for Carlson Jr with that takedown attempt. Carlson Jr misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carlson Jr swings for the body but James moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlson Jr throws a body punch but James moves out of range. James misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carlson Jr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carlson Jr is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Carlson Jr doesn't seem phased though. Carlson Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but James moves away. Carlson Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. James is pressing down on Carlson Jr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carlson Jr manages to get himself to full guard.
Carlson Jr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. James wants to stand but Carlson Jr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James throwing strikes from guard but Carlson Jr blocks nicely. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Carlson Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carlson Jr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James stands up from Carlson Jr's guard - James perhaps looking for a knockout. Carlson Jr on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carlson Jr connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between James's hands. Carlson Jr closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. James loads up on a big right hand but Carlson Jr slips the punch. James throws the kick towards the body but Carlson Jr avoids it. Carlson Jr scores with a body shot.
James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Carlson Jr keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Carlson Jr misses with a series of wild punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlson Jr connects with the punch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carlson Jr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Good standup being displayed there by Carlson Jr as he connects with a hook. James fails with an attempt to clinch.
Danga de danga de dang - Carlson Jr scores with a four punch combination! Carlson Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Carlson Jr cracks James with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. James on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Carlson Jr throws a body punch but James moves out of range. James shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carlson Jr as he avoids it easily. Some wild striking there from James.
James is breathing heavily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carlson Jr takes the fight into the clinch. James is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chad Carlson Jr dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
James throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carlson Jr, pushing him back against the cage. James misses with a punch to the body.
Carlson Jr stalls. Carlson Jr has dropped down and is working for a takedown. James is trying to keep an underhook but Carlson Jr manages to get the takedown into half guard. Carlson Jr tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Carlson Jr prevents James from improving his position. James looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. James slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. James working a defensive guard here.

You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlson Jr advances nicely into full mount. James tries to lock up and control but Carlson Jr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Carlson Jr lands a big shot there that rocks James but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
James in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carlson Jr breaks from James's wrist control and lands an elbow. Carlson Jr landing shots from mount. Carlson Jr putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
James is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carlson Jr lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. James is still in real trouble! Can Carlson Jr finish him? Carlson Jr lands a big elbow. James wants to hold on but Carlson Jr pushes him away. Carlson Jr unloads with some vicious shots from mount and James wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Carlson Jr celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chad Carlson Jr!
