Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Smyth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Silverton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smyth comes to the cage accompanied by RZA - Fatal. Silverton has chosen Seven as his entrance music. Joey Silverton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Smyth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Silverton! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silverton swats away the attempt to clinch by Smyth. Smyth misses the shot to the body. Smyth uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silverton. Silverton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smyth gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Smyth manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Silverton is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smyth unloads with some shots from mount but Silverton bucks and avoids them well.
Smyth working away from the top, dropping strikes. BOOM! Smyth connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Silverton blocking the ground and pound. Smyth sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Smyth lands a big elbow. Smyth landing strikes from the mount and Silverton is in trouble! Smyth tries to control but Silverton wriggling away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Silverton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smyth is working for a guillotine from mount but Silverton frees his head quite easily.
Silverton is trying desperately to improve position. Silverton is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Smyth thowing shots but they're missing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smyth thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Smyth throws some wild stikes that Silverton manages to avoid easily.
Smyth thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Silverton is trying desperately to improve position. Silverton tries to hold on but Smyth pushes him away. Smyth putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Silverton is desperately trying to improve his position but Smyth has a good base and remains in mount. Smyth throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Smyth there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Smyth lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Smyth is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Silverton can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smyth throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Smyth raining down hammerfists from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smyth punching from mount but Silverton doing a good job of avoiding damage. Smyth connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Smyth trying to control but Silverton is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smyth wants to control but Silverton has made it back to half guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smyth slips under a jab from Silverton. No luck for Smyth with that takedown attempt. Silverton missing with a left hand there. Smyth was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smyth ducks under a wild hook from Silverton. Silverton misses with an uppercut
and Smyth counters with a single leg into guard. Silverton didn't expect that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smyth loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smyth has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smyth trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Smyth preventing the sweep. Smyth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silverton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smyth has managed to get both his arms back between Silverton's legs - danger averted. Smyth trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Silverton tries to land a sweep but no joy. Smyth wants to control from the top but Silverton keeps moving. Smyth throwing strikes but missing. Silverton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silverton avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Silverton tries to land a sweep but no joy. Smyth sitting in guard, not really doing much. Smyth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silverton is keeping the position for now. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silverton is on top in guard.
Smyth wants to hit a switch here but Silverton passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Smyth there!

Silverton pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Silverton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smyth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smyth is looking to improve his position but Silverton isn't that keen on the idea. Silverton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Silverton lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Joey Silverton will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Smyth's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!
Silverton takes a shot right to the bread basket. Smyth throws a leg kick but Silverton sees it coming and moves out of range. Smyth works Silverton's body with a nice hook. Silverton slaps away a takedown attempt from Smyth, before circling back to the center of the mat. Silverton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Silverton connects with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smyth swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Joey Silverton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smyth slips a jab from Silverton. Silverton misses the shot to the body. Smyth moves out of range as Silverton strikes. Silverton takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Smyth takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Silverton scores with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circling - Silverton throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Smyth is looking to wear down Silverton with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Smyth gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Silverton checks a low kick from Smyth. Smyth ducks under a wild hook from Silverton. Silverton lands with a nice body punch. Smyth fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silverton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smyth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smyth misses with a low kick as Silverton jumps back. Smyth waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Silverton. Smyth is looking to clinch but Silverton is avoiding it.
Smyth dives in and grabs Silverton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silverton pushes down on Smyth's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vincent Smyth. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silverton scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Smyth finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Silverton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Smyth quickly recovers to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silverton moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Smyth. Smyth is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Silverton's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Silverton wants to take a breather but Smyth is having none of it. Smyth trying to hold on to Silverton's head to control him but Silverton postures up.
Smyth on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Silverton prevents Smyth from improving his position.
And that's the end of the fight! Joey Silverton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Silverton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
