Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Walter Sobchak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Pinochet! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobchak works Pinochet's body with a nice hook. Pinochet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sobchak as he jumps to the side. Sobchak misses with an uppercut
and Pinochet counters with a shoot takedown. Sobchak fights it but they end up in guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Pinochet wants to control from the top but Sobchak keeps moving. Sobchak is pulling down on Pinochet's head to control his posture. Sobchak keeping full guard, as Pinochet tries to pass. Sobchak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pinochet on the ground. Pinochet drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sobchak dives on top into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pinochet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pinochet is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sobchak defends well. Pinochet working for a triangle but Sobchak defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pinochet wants to hit a switch here but Sobchak passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pinochet there! Pinochet sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Pinochet gets full guard. Sobchak won't allow Pinochet to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pinochet is looking to sweep but instead, Sobchak has passed into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pinochet works his way to full guard. Good work. Pinochet wants to sweep but no luck. Pinochet is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pinochet is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pinochet tries to land a sweep but no joy. Sobchak postures up.
Sobchak is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Walter Sobchak. Horrible takedown by Pinochet or perhaps it was just good defense by Sobchak which made him look bad. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. No luck for Pinochet with that takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Augusto Pinochet dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
No luck for Pinochet with that takedown attempt. A looping hook to the body misses from Sobchak. Pinochet does a little dance to reset his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pinochet tries for a takedown but Sobchak circles away easily and Sobchak counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobchak is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pinochet. Pinochet keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pinochet is defended easily by Sobchak. Walter Sobchak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augusto Pinochet. Sobchak connects with the punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sobchak misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pinochet.
Pinochet shoots in looking for a takedown but Sobchak manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pinochet's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Pinochet shoots and misses and Sobchak counters with a straight right hand. A slow jab from Sobchak misses its intended target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sobchak digs a good body shot into Pinochet's ribs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sobchak just misses with a punch to the body.
Pinochet with a poor takedown and Sobchak counters with a nice body shot. Pinochet is breathing heavily. Sobchak lands a jab to Pinochet's midsection. Sobchak sends Pinochet crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sobchak is motioning to the referee to let Pinochet up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Pinochet is rocked!
It looks like Augusto Pinochet has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pinochet leaves his chin hanging out and Sobchak seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Pinochet crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Walter Sobchak!
