Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Key (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Headden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Key comes to the cage accompanied by EYELID - REGENERATE. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Key!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Headden!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Key leaves Headden with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Headden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Key lands a leg kick that knocks Headden off balance momentarily.
Headden tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Headden fails with a takedown attempt.
Headden wants to clinch up but Key keeps it at a distance.

Headden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Headden lands in his opponent's guard.
Headden throws a big right hand that misses.
Headden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Key swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Headden slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Headden in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Steve Headden wasn't active enough on the ground.
Key thumps Headden with a low kick.
A head kick misses from Key.
Headden throws a head kick that Key semi-blocks.
Headden tries a low kick but Key avoids it.
Headden throws a poor cross that misses
and Key counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Key takes a jab right on the kisser.

Key avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab from Key does it's job there.
Don Key is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Key misses with an uppercut. Headden saw that one coming.
Headden misses with a body shot
and Key counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Headden closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Headden wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Key, who protects the arm well.

Headden misses with the ground and pound.

Headden in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Headden swings around for an armbar but Key sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Headden's guard.
Headden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Key is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Headden looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Key puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Headden works the jab nicely.
Headden misses the shot to the body.

Key gets caught napping as Headden dives in and scores a takedown. Key manages to retain guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Headden trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Headden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Key works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Headden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Headden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Headden looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Headden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Key doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Headden.
Headden winds up and cracks Key with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Headden has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Headden throws some wild stikes that Key manages to avoid easily.
Key is squirming around, avoiding Headden's attempts to control the action.

Headden jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Key is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Key and Headden has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Headden throws an elbow but Key slips to the side and avoids it well.
Key tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Headden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Headden stuns Key with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Headden fails with a takedown attempt.
Headden bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The fighters circling - Headden throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Headden throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Headden lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Key takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Headden smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Nice body punch from Headden.
Headden throws a sloppy head kick and Key moves out of range easily.
Headden misses with a body shot
and Key counters with a body kick that stops Headden in his tracks momentarily.

Headden fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Key looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nice cross by Headden.
Key defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Headden.
Headden keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Key lands a nice leg kick that just misses Headden's sensitive parts.
Headden tries a head kick but it misses.
Key displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Headden throws out the jab.

Key fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Key tries to score with a low kick but Headden moves his leg out of the way.
Headden's corner calls for a 1-2. Headden obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Headden throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Key sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Key misses with a body kick.
Headden catches Key with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Key throws a leg kick that misses.
Key shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
A big right from Headden misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Headden throws a leg kick but Key moved away.
Steve Headden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Headden fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Key keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Steve Headden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Headden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
