Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Brun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory McCuddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brun might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pump Up the Jam by The Lost Fingers. Cory McCuddy looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Brun! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory McCuddy! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCuddy lands a slapping body shot.
McCuddy feints and as Brun raises his hands in defense, McCuddy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Brun trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brun scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Nice combo by Brun! Oh, that's hurt him - McCuddy falls to the canvas and Brun follows him into side control.
McCuddy is rocked! Brun staying calm. McCuddy is still in real trouble! Can Brun finish him? Brun looking to punish the body of his opponent here but McCuddy is avoiding damage well.
A lull in the action here. McCuddy seems to have recovered his senses. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A bit of a lull in the action here. Brun wants to lay and pray for a moment but McCuddy keeps working. McCuddy is letting Brun control him for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brun has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. McCuddy sneaks back into half guard. Brun missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. McCuddy wants to improve his position but Brun is controlling well.

McCuddy looks gassed! McCuddy has hold of Brun's hands but Brun slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Brun throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Brun is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McCuddy controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Brun with the ground and pound but McCuddy uses the opportunity to regain guard. McCuddy has his hands on Brun's head, controlling the position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Brun wants to control from the top but McCuddy keeps moving. Brun throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McCuddy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McCuddy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Brun advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brun wants to pass the guard but McCuddy is defending well. McCuddy landing small, sideways elbows. Brun passes to side control. McCuddy is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Brun is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCuddy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Brun working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Brun blocks the strikes from McCuddy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Brun trying to control the position but McCuddy is working away. Brun is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McCuddy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Brun tries to advance to mount but McCuddy denies him. Brun cracks McCuddy with a big right hand but McCuddy just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Brun wants to lay and pray for a moment but McCuddy keeps working. McCuddy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Brun seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Brun wants to pass to mount but McCuddy is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hank Brun dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

McCuddy throws a half hearted mid kick. Brun will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McCuddy moves out of range of the strikes. McCuddy slips under a jab. McCuddy shoots for a double leg takedown but Brun sprawls well. He's pushed McCuddy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hank Brun is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McCuddy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brun swivels and escapes. McCuddy tries to close the distance and clinch but Brun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McCuddy is breathing heavily. Brun throws a sloppy head kick and McCuddy moves out of range easily. Brun throws a head kick but McCuddy moves out of range.
McCuddy fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hank Brun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cory McCuddy. Brun lands with a kick to the ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCuddy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McCuddy blocks a head kick by Brun.

Cory McCuddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brun throws a head kick that misses. McCuddy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Brun trying to control from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. McCuddy tries to clinch up. McCuddy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. McCuddy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brun! McCuddy landing shots from mount. McCuddy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Brun is desperately trying to improve his position but McCuddy has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brun is squirming around, avoiding McCuddy's attempts to control the action. McCuddy lands with some strikes. McCuddy avoids the attempt from Brun to control. Brun keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. McCuddy working Brun over with strikes. Brun moves into full guard.
McCuddy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. McCuddy wants to control from the top but Brun keeps moving. McCuddy is in close to Brun's body, working some short punches and elbows. McCuddy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hammerfist, elbow! yells McCuddy's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Brun tries to land a sweep but no joy. McCuddy passes into half guard. McCuddy scoring with strikes to the body and head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Cory McCuddy will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

McCuddy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brun tries to avoid it but McCuddy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brun to the ground. Brun escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Brun throws a head kick that McCuddy semi-blocks.
McCuddy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Brun tries to land a front kick but McCuddy steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. McCuddy fails with a takedown attempt. Hank Brun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cory McCuddy. Brun misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brun tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McCuddy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Brun pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McCuddy looks for a takedown but Brun sprawls well. Brun throws a head kick that misses. Brun throws a solid leg kick but McCuddy takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Brun.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brun feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McCuddy's calf. McCuddy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brun but Brun pushes him off and we're back to square one. Brun throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nice takedown defense from Brun. No joy for McCuddy on that attempt. McCuddy has a takedown stuffed. McCuddy avoids a kick to the body.
McCuddy tries to bum rush Brun with a series of wild strikes but Brun uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Brun, right into the meat.
Brun looks to throw the jab but McCuddy is out of range. McCuddy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Brun circles away. McCuddy shoots in for a takedown but Brun shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brun misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McCuddy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Brun tries to roll over but McCuddy keeps him under control. Brun is working hard here to advance position. McCuddy is looking to take a break and control but Brun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McCuddy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Well, if McCuddy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

McCuddy gets off balance looking for a body kick and Brun counters with a body kick that stops McCuddy in his tracks momentarily. Brun throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McCuddy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Brun makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Brun throws a head kick but McCuddy moves out of range.
Brun circles away from the clinch attempt and Brun counters with a two punch combo. McCuddy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McCuddy taking a breather here. McCuddy cracks Brun with a big elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brun tries to improve position but can't. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. McCuddy wants to control but Brun is keeping him busy. Brun is trying to control McCuddy's posture but McCuddy avoids it. Brun is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McCuddy throws a sloppy head kick and Brun counters with a slapping leg kick. McCuddy takes a shot right to the bread basket. Brun swings and misses with a hook to the body.
