PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Orpik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle comes into the arena with Demon Hunter - Storm The Gates Of Hell blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Orpik!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castle looks to land a combination but Orpik avoids it well.
A punch combination from Castle misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Castle.
Castle throws a series of punches but Orpik moves out of range.
Orpik shoots in for a takedown but Castle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Castle throws a right and a left that Orpik avoids nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Orpik.
Castle throws a head kick that misses.
Castle tries to land a front kick but Orpik steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Castle lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Orpik shoots in but Castle avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Eric Castle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Orpik.
Castle throws a nice looking combination but Orpik bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Orpik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Castle but Castle pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Castle feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Orpik's calf.
Castle misses with a few strikes there.

Castle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Castle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Castle shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Orpik manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Orpik wants to control the position but Castle says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Castle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Orpik does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Orpik parries the strikes from Castle easily there. Castle is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Orpik to escape.

Orpik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Castle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Castle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Castle is staying tight to Orpik's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Orpik is trying to control Castle's posture but Castle avoids it.
Orpik is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Castle is staying active.
Castle is chipping away with strikes.

Castle remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
