Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kimura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Leeroy! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimura looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leeroy is fending him off so far but Kimura persists. Nope, Leeroy circles away and we're back to standing. Leeroy tries for a takedown but Kimura circles away easily and Kimura counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kimura. Leeroy will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Kimura looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leeroy can do anything to dispel that myth. Leeroy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kimura sitting in guard here, content to control. Leeroy is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Kimura wants to control from the top but Leeroy keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leeroy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kimura kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Leeroy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kimura counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kimura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Kimura passes easily into side control. Nice work. Kimura slows the pace down. The strikes coming from Kimura are missing the target in this wave of attacks. What's Leeroy going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Leeroy can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kimura slows the pace down. Kimura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Leeroy is trying to work for a sweep but Kimura has mounted him! Kimura controlling from the full mount. Kimura seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Leeroy for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimura is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Kimura trying to control the position from guard on top but Leeroy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Leeroy has Kimura pulled in close to control his posture. Leeroy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kimura is one step ahead there. Jun Kimura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kimura stands and throws Leeroy's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kimura wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Leeroy, who protects the arm well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. You can see the frustration on Leeroy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leeroy is trying to improve his position. Kimura wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leeroy keeps working. A lull in the action here as Kimura stalls from top position. Leeroy tries to bench press Kimura off him but Kimura keeps the position. Leeroy struggling a bit here. Leeroy is looking for a sweep.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kimura doesn't succeed with the takedown and Leeroy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kimura's guard now. Kimura had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Leeroy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kimura Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Leeroy's back instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leeroy is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

A close second round but Bruce Leeroy will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Leeroy keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully. Leeroy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kimura sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Leeroy's guard. Leeroy is trying to control but can't.
Kimura is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leeroy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kimura. Leeroy wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kimura passes the guard and advances to mount! Kimura has hold of Leeroy's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Leeroy manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Leeroy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kimura. Kimura avoids the attempt from Leeroy to control. Kimura controlling his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leeroy wants to control but Kimura is having none of it. Kimura controlling his opponent. Kimura is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Kimura!
