Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gil Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Alkofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandez's entrance music is Requiem for a Dream by Lux Aeterna. A fine choice. Gil Hernandez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gil Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Christian Alkofer!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alkofer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hernandez quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hernandez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alkofer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alkofer's back!
Hernandez is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Alkofer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

It looks like Alkofer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hernandez shoots for a takedown but Alkofer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Alkofer feints and as Hernandez raises his hands in defense, Alkofer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Alkofer shoots for a double leg takedown but Hernandez sprawls well. He's pushed Alkofer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Alkofer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Alkofer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Alkofer cracks Hernandez with a big right hand but Hernandez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
