Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bob Soza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soza comes to the cage accompanied by Sponge Bob Theme Song. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers misses with a head kick.
Soza throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Summers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Soza tries to score with a low kick but Summers moves his leg out of the way.
Soza avoids a punch combination nicely.
Soza blocks a jab.

Summers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Soza has closed the distance and engaged Summers in a clinch.
Summers is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Soza fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

and Summers counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Summers counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Soza is lucky that one didn't land flush.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Summers checks a leg kick.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Soza lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Summers has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Summers and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Summers takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Soza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Summers moves away.
Summers throws a nice looking combination but Soza bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Summers counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Soza swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Soza throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Summers throws the kick towards the body but Soza avoids it.
Soza attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Summers stuns Soza with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Summers feints a jab promting Soza to slip. Summers then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Soza slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bob Soza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soza throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Summers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Soza keeps control of Summers as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Soza is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Summers is defending well for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Summers has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Soza.
Summers comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bob Soza.
Well Soza has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
