PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shadow Nero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sairanix Lokren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shadow Nero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sairanix Lokren!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nero throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lokren was covering up waiting for the punch and Nero finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lokren looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lokren is looking to stand up but Nero isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nero throwing strikes from guard but Lokren blocks nicely.
Nero prevents Lokren from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nero tries to free his leg and advance position but Lokren is retaining full guard.
Nero trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lokren's guard.
Nero showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Nero has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Shadow Nero wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Nero drives through with a takedown into Lokren's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shadow Nero just wasn't active enough.

Nero fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lokren, pushing him back against the cage.
Lokren is pressed up against the cage. Nero has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lokren down to the mat. Lokren avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Lokren takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nero shoots in looking for a takedown but Lokren manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nero's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Nero breaks from the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Nero is stalling here. Lokren is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nero seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lokren has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Lokren is staying tight to Nero's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Nero wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Lokren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nero keeps working.

Nero on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nero tries to get out of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nero is looking to regain half guard here but Lokren keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nero wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lokren, who protects the arm well.

Lokren tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nero wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Lokren wants to control but Nero postures up.

Nero tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nero has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Nero changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lokren fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lokren wants to clinch up but Nero keeps it at a distance.
Lokren stuffs the takedown attempt from Nero. Nero gets slowly back to his feet.

Nero fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lokren to the ground. Nero is now in Lokren's guard.
Nero looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Lokren has his foot on Nero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nero works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lokren has a closed guard, preventing Nero from standing up.
Shadow Nero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lokren wants to stand but Nero is controlling the position.

Nero controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Shadow Nero wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nero shoots for a double leg takedown but Lokren sprawls well. He's pushed Nero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shadow Nero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nero gets a clinch.

Lokren drags the fight down to the ground.
Nero content to stall in guard here.
Nero wants to control from the top but Lokren keeps moving.

Lokren scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Nero jabs Lokren to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nero tries to land a front kick but Lokren steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Nero changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lokren tries to avoid it but Nero manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lokren to the ground. Lokren escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shadow Nero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nero circles away from the clinch attempt.

Nero takes the fight into the clinch.
Nero looking for a takedown.
A right hand to the body from Nero.

Nero tries to pull guard but Lokren won't allow it.

Nero gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Lokren makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Lokren tries to close the distance and clinch but Nero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lokren pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lokren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nero swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Nero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shadow Nero showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Nero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
