Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikey Kim! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, James Hume! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kim avoids the head kick by Hume.
Hume wants to slow Kim down by chopping away at his legs. An inside leg kick lands from Kim. Kim delivers a nice body kick. Kim moves into the clinch successfully.
Kim crunches a lovely knee into Hume's ribcage. Kim lands an elbow that stopped Hume in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like James Hume has been cut. Kim looking to throw knees to the head but Hume is blocking nicely.
Hume tries to break the clinch but Kim is controlling the position. Hume blocks an elbow strike. Hume is trying to break the clinch but Kim has him pressed against the ropes. Hume is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Kim has Hume pressed against the ropes, preventing Hume from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Kim pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kim, right into the meat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kim throws a shot from downtown. Hume moves away and avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hume throws a sloppy head kick and Kim moves out of range easily. Good exchange - Hume coming out on top. Kim has Hume up against the ropes in a clinch.

Hume tries to break free but Kim pushes him back against the ropes. Kim's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kim takes a kick to the side of the head. Hume checks a low kick from Kim. Kim takes the fight into the clinch. Hume's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kim blocks a low kick nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hume takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A head kick misses from Hume. Hume takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hume looks gassed! Hume pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kim lands with a slapping head kick. Kim avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A good leg kick by Kim. Kim jabs Hume right on the nose. Hume blinks but takes it well. An inside leg kick from Kim misses. Kim is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hume. Hume throws a sloppy head kick and Kim counters with a nice leg kick. Kim connects with a leg kick. Hume looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Kim clinches up against the ropes. Kim comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Kim misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kim tries to land knees in the clinch but Hume avoids the damage to the body. Hume takes a knee right on the jaw!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kim creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Hume breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kim throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A solid body kick from Kim. A left lands for Kim. Kim works Hume's body with a nice hook. Kim lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Hume is rocked! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A nice inside leg kick there by Kim. That's going to slow Hume down. Kim dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hume. That did some damage! Kim scores with a kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mikey Kim dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Hume's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Kim lands with a cross. Kim with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kim avoids the head kick by Hume.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Hume in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. Hume throws a sloppy head kick and Hume takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kim fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Kim throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Hume's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Kim dives in looking to finish as Hume flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Kim's strikes! Kim is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Hume's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Hume was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
