Overeem comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Barbarian Horde By Hans Zimmer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mallon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Overeem.
A head kick misses from Overeem.
Mallon scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Overeem fails in his attempt to clinch.
Overeem closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Mallon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Overeem's head backwards.
Overeem takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mallon connects with a jab.
Mallon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Overeem momentarily.
Mallon connects with a right hand. Overeem shakes it off.
Overeem looks gassed!
Mallon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Mallon fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mallon cracks Overeem with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mallon cracks Overeem with a right hand to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mallon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Overeem gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Overeem is rocked!
Overeem steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mallon.
