Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Staton! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Finbar Calamitius! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staton misses with a looping right. Calamitius tries to close the distance and clinch up but Staton swats him away and circles back towards the center. Calamitius closes the distance but Staton moves to the side and Staton counters with a lovely straight right hand! Calamitius wants to clinch. Staton tries a low kick but Calamitius avoids it. Calamitius gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Staton to score an easy takedown into full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Staton prevents Calamitius from getting back to his feet. Staton controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Staton throwing strikes from guard but Calamitius blocks nicely. Calamitius keeping moving, preventing Staton from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staton prevents Calamitius from getting back to his feet. Staton is looking to work some ground and pound but Calamitius has wrist control. Staton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Calamitius wants to clinch and Staton counters with a solid body kick. Calamitius looks to clinch and Staton counters with a big head kick but Calamitius shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeez, Jeremy Staton's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Calamitius jerks Staton's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Staton drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Calamitius goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Calamitius because Staton was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
