PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Choake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choake kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hans Zimmer - The Kraken. Cortez has chosen About that time as his entrance music. Joseph Cortez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Choake feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cortez has his foot on Choake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Choake works his way back into a safe position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Choake chips away with some ground and pound. Choake controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Choake has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Choake lands a couple of elbows.
Cortez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Choake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cortez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Choake stacks Cortez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Choake! Cortez looks gassed! Choake advances nicely into full mount.
