Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vega Laroose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vega Laroose! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Jones! The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laroose tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Laroose is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Laroose has taken the fight to the clinch.
Laroose is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jones gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Laroose is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Laroose turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Laroose working away. Laroose fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Laroose controls the position. Laroose has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Jones should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Jones trying to control the hands but Laroose won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Laroose biding his time, controlling Jones. Jones tries to escape but Laroose has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Jones is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Laroose.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laroose somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Jones has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Laroose controlling from the back. Jones is trying to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laroose trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Jones doesn't escape. Laroose's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Laroose throwing wild punches that miss their target. Jones has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Laroose. Laroose really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Jones.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laroose doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.
Jones wanted to stand there but Laroose had control of the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Vega Laroose just wasn't active enough. Laroose wants to clinch. Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Laroose gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Laroose has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones wants to stand up but Laroose is controlling him. Jones throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vega Laroose dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Laroose is looking to clinch. Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Laroose's half guard. Jones tries to stand and escape but Laroose actually recovers to full guard. Laroose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones wants to stand but Laroose is controlling his posture from full guard. Laroose wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones trying to control but Laroose is working from the bottom. Vega Laroose overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mike Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Laroose tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Laroose moves into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones misses with a knee to the head. Jones gets underhooks to prevent Laroose's takedown attempt.
Jones lands a body punch in the clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones is pressed up against the cage. Laroose has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Vega Laroose is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Laroose sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Laroose is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Laroose has managed to free his arm - good work. Jones sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Laroose defending well though. Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to control but Laroose is keeping him busy. Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Laroose is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Laroose is not content to let Jones control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mike Jones wasn't active enough on the ground. Laroose tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Vega Laroose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones takes the fight into the clinch. Jones pushes Laroose back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch. Jones gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Laroose has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Laroose engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Laroose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Laroose trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Vega Laroose wasn't doing enough on the ground. Laroose is looking to clinch. Jones moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones lands on the inside with an uppercut. Jones lands with a right to the head. Laroose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Laroose tries to throw a body punch but Jones avoids it by throwing Laroose back against the cage. Laroose blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Laroose has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Laroose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jones jumps into guard, dragging Laroose to the mat.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Laroose trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Jones is looking for a triangle but Laroose pushes his legs off easily.
Jones looking to control.
Laroose thows a big elbow that misses. Jones controls Laroose momentarily but Laroose frees himself. Laroose throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Jones keeping full guard, as Laroose tries to pass. Jones striking off his back but it's not causing Laroose any problems. Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Laroose wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee. Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Laroose quickly recovers to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones decides to stand and escape the position. Laroose tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Laroose controlling the position well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
