Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cullaine Dubhcuan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Unigu Rege!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rege stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rege wants it to stay on the feet.
Dubhcuan looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Rege gets the takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rege tries to advance to mount but Dubhcuan denies him.
Rege is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dubhcuan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Rege decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dubhcuan to his feet.

Rege clinches up against the cage.
Rege tries to land knees in the clinch but Dubhcuan avoids the damage to the body.

Rege gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rege stands up from Dubhcuan's guard - Rege perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rege shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rege is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rege decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rege throws a half hearted mid kick.

Rege closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rege thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rege landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rege cracks Dubhcuan with a big elbow.
Dubhcuan is being controlled here.
Dubhcuan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rege wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rege working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rege tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rege takes a little break here. Dubhcuan wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Let's hope that Rege has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rege landing a few strikes.
Rege staying calm.

Rege decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rege shoots in but Dubhcuan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dubhcuan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Unigu Rege dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Rege changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dubhcuan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rege gets to mount! Dubhcuan was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rege. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Rege lands with some strikes.

Dubhcuan is looking to get to half guard.
Rege is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dubhcuan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rege has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rege pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Rege looking to control and managing it successfully.

The referee warns Dubhcuan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dubhcuan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rege.

Rege is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Dubhcuan is forced to tap! Great finish!
