PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marshal Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Ovrut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Ovrut was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marshal Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Ovrut!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovrut throws a right hand that Brown ducks under and follows up with a left that Brown also avoids with ease.
Ovrut throws a head kick that misses.
Mark Ovrut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown blocks a head kick by Ovrut.

Brown gets caught flat footed, as Ovrut shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Brown working for a triangle but Ovrut defends it easily.

Brown looking for a guillotine here but Ovrut defends easily.

Brown looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ovrut has picked Brown up and slammed him! Brown can't keep hold of the triangle and Ovrut manages to pass to side control!
Brown is trying to control Ovrut's posture but Ovrut avoids it.

Ovrut stands up and we're back to a striking position.

No joy there for Ovrut, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ovrut lands with a nice combination. Brown backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Marshal Brown has been cut.
Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Ovrut, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Ovrut against the cage but Ovrut circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ovrut looking to score a takedown here. Brown is defending well but Ovrut drives through and ends up in Brown's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ovrut has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brown is proving hard to escape from.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ovrut gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ovrut trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brown avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ovrut trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brown working for a triangle but Ovrut defends it easily.
Ovrut wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Brown seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ovrut stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brown is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brown tries to strike from the bottom.
Brown on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brown tries to get out of the position.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ovrut gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ovrut throwing strikes but missing.

Ovrut avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Ovrut from controlling successfully.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.

Brown lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ovrut!
Ovrut really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Brown trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Brown avoids the attempt from Ovrut to control.
Ovrut keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ovrut wants to hold on but Brown pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ovrut is in all sorts of trouble here.
Brown lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brown landing strikes from the mount and Ovrut is in trouble!
Ovrut can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mark Ovrut will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Marshal Brown's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Brown gets a double leg takedown into Ovrut's guard.
Ovrut is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ovrut keeping full guard, as Brown tries to pass.
Brown lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ovrut preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Brown missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ovrut utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brown is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ovrut trying to keep a closed guard but Brown is proving a slippery customer.
Ovrut bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ovrut has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brown is proving hard to escape from.

Ovrut gets to his feet - Brown follows without any prompting.
Ovrut misses with a double jab
and Brown counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Ovrut to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Brown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Marshal Brown!
